The Xiaomi Mi A2 is a mid-tier android one smartphone released in July 2018. This budget device has a modern configuration for handling all the things you want to use Ubuntu Touch. It also has a high-end phone with a stellar battery, an excellent camera, and an advanced chipset. The screen on the 1080p HD is 5.99 inches with an 18:9 aspect ratio display. The Mi is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It has a fingerprint sensor and 12MP and 20MP dual rear cameras, and a 20MP front camera.

Maintainer notes

Xiaomi Mi A2 has a BUGGY implementation of fastboot interface from Xiaomi which can cause occasional issues when trying to use ubports installer to install Ubuntu Touch. If you need help with installation, please ask nicely at https://t.me/shoukolab/ .
Waydroid can be installed but may not work properly. If you need android apps on ubuntu touch, you may want to choose some other device. If you can help fix waydroid support drop a message at https://t.me/shoukolab/ .

How to install Ubuntu Touch OS

You can install Ubuntu Touch on this device using the UBports Installer on your computer.

Make sure your device is unlocked and has the required version of Android installed. Before installing, follow the device-specific instructions below:

Please double-check that your device is a Xiaomi Mi A2 (jasmine_sprout). Xiaomi Mi 6x and Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite are NOT SUPPORTED. You also NEED to check your device LCD name, you can use an app (click on more link, requires rooted android device) to check if it's called *jdi*. In that case you will need to choose devel channel instead of stable until OTA-19.
Your device must be running a specific android 9 build before installing Ubuntu Touch. You can use the link below to download it. You can use either use stock recovery or TWRP recovery to flash it. Flash it to both slots to be safe.
For unknown reason some pc may not work with device fastboot mode, if installer fails or bootloop your device try to run it from other pc

You will also need to download manually some files specific for your port depending on the type of your install:
